RAPS continues to accept cats from other animal rescue groups on a case by case basis. Last summer, we welcomed a timid, pregnant calico from Bella Bella, brought in by Big Heart Rescue. The little cat gave birth to 5 kittens that have since been adopted, and has been adopted herself by her foster family.

We also welcomed a terrified, senior, black street cat with FIV from CARES in Langley. Ninja lay immobile in his enclosure, and we noticed that he was drinking and urinating excessively. Blood testing showed that he was diabetic and very ill. It took weeks to stabilize him with twice daily insulin injections and frequent visits to the vet, but we were successful, and he is now much friendlier and living well with our other FIV+ cats.

Update - Ninja's pancreas has recovered and is producing its own insulin. He is no longer diabetic!

This is the second cat at our sanctuary that has overcome short-term diabetes.
