Lost No More

Now 8-years-old, this male tabby had lived just 6 months in his third home when he darted through an open door and became lost. His "significant human" had travelled to Nova Scotia for the summer, so was unable to search for him. Luckily, other family members listed him as missing with the RAPS City Shelter, and then called our cat sanctuary 3 weeks later. Our Director of Animal Care matched his description with that of a starved, sick cat that had just been brought to the sanctuary, and Mimi was reunited with his family.
At first, the family had difficulty recognizing their cat because of his shocking weight loss and frailty. He had suffered severe dehydration from 3 weeks of summer heat and his kidneys were badly damaged. He was barely eating and required forcefeeding and fluid therapy. The family accepted our offer to provide intensive care for an additional 2 weeks, while they visited him daily, and then took Mimi home where he continues to recover.
