There are many cats at the shelter who are waiting to be adopted by loving, devoted people.
Interested individuals and families are carefully interviewed by telephone to help us choose suitable animals for a successful match. You will then tour the shelter with our Adoption Coordinator who is familiar with each cat’s personality and who can lead you to the best possible candidates.
Most of our cats are accustomed to life in a multiple-cat home; however, we do have animals who would definitely prefer to be your only cat. Cat adoption requires a serious commitment, as a cat will become part of your family for up to 20 years. Our cats and kittens are adopted only to homes that we believe will be loving, safe and permanent. They also require your financial commitment for any veterinary needs that may arise during their lifetime.
If you have never lived with cats, we strongly encourage you to research cat behaviour before taking cats or kittens into your home.
If you currently have no other cats, consider adopting one of our very loving cats that are FIV+ (feline "AIDS"). Kept safely indoors so they are not exposed to other animals, these cats may have a pretty good life expectancy. If you already have a cat that has tested positive for FIV, you can adopt one of ours as a companion.
All of our cats are spayed or neutered to help curb the cat overpopulation problem. Our adoption fee covers the cost of that surgery plus an ear tattoo and vaccinations. Our kittens are dewormed and will have received their first vaccination.
If you are prepared to love and accept your cats as you would your children, you can view some of our adoptable felines at Petfinder.com, City of Richmond listings. |
